Iatric Systems acquires AOI
June 1, 2013 in Medical Technology
Iatric Systems, which specializes in health IT interoperability, has acquired Dallas-based Accent on Integration, which develops technology for connecting medical devices.
With the acquisition, terms of which were not disclosed, Iatric officials say AOI’s Accelero Connect integration platform – along with its portfolio of professional and consulting services – will bolster its suite of IT integration services and expand its data-sharing capabilities.
“Patient safety, meaningful use, health information exchange and other relevant industry challenges have created an immense and immediate demand for integration, and acquiring AOI further strengthens Iatric Systems’ ability to deliver the integration services that providers need,” said Joel Berman, founder and CEO of Iatric Systems, in a press statement.
Iatric Systems will retain AOI personnel, officials say, including the company’s co-founders, President and CEO Marc C. Andiel, and Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Jeff McGeath.
“What we’re talking about are open standards. For everyone. That are achievable,” Andiel told Healthcare IT News in an interview this March at the Interoperability Showcase at the 2013 HIMSS Annual Conference Exhibition.
“Marc and Jeff have built an outstanding business with unique integration capabilities that are relevant to the whole healthcare industry,” said Iatric Systems President Frank Fortner. “AOI has solved complex challenges for a variety of healthcare clients, including providers and HIEs, and that track record was important to us.”
“AOI was founded on the simple premise that we could help create better, safer care environments by eliminating healthcare data silos. Now, as part of Iatric Systems, we will have the size and scale to significantly expand our reach into the healthcare community,” said Andiel in a statement.
