People on the move: Dec. 16-20

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that New Orleans Health Commissioner Karen DeSalvo, MD, will take over as national coordinator for health information technology. DeSalvo has previously served as president of the Louisiana Health Care Quality Forum and as a member of the Steering Committee for the Crescent City Beacon Community grant.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii announced that Leanne Hunstock will return to the organization as chief operating officer, care delivery and vice president, quality. She served as chief operating officer and chief nursing officer at Moanalua Medical Center from 2008-2010.

Jean Meyer has been appointed president and chief executive officer for St. John Providence Health System. She has been serving as interim president and CEO since June 2013.

Cedric Priebe, MD, has been appointed chief information officer for Brigham and Women’s Health Care. He joins BWHC from the Care New England Health System in Rhode Island, where he has served as CIO and senior vice president of information services since 2007.

Omnicell announced the appointment of Joanne Bauer, president of global health care at Kimberly-Clark, to its board of directors and as a member of the corporate governance committee of the board.

Apria Healthcare Group announced the appointment of Daniel J. Starck, CEO of the company’s respiratory therapy/home medical equipment operating unit, to the company’s board of directors.

Lou Inzana, chief financial officer at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for the past six years, is leaving to become senior vice president and CFO at Maine Medical Center.

Adventist Health named Jeff Eller president of the Northern California Network. He is leaving his current position as CEO of Sonora Regional Medical Center.

ClearDATA announced the appointment of Scott Whyte as senior vice president for growth and innovation. He was most recently a leading IT vice president of Dignity Health.

Medfusion announced the appointment of Vern Davenport as equity partner and president of Medfusion. Previously, he served as CEO of Misys Healthcare where he led the merger of the company with Allscripts.
