KLAS gives Deloitte top ranking for ACOs

December 15, 2014 in Medical Technology

When it comes to helping healthcare organizations develop strategies and build accountable care organizations, Deloitte ranks first, according to Orem, Utah-based research firm KLAS.

The report, “ACO Advisory Services 2014: Navigating the Unchartered Territory of Accountable Care,” evaluates seven firms against three categories: strategy development, readiness assessment and implementation. The ratings are based on interviews with 41 healthcare organizations working to implement value-based care models.

KLAS credits Deloitte for having “deep health care resources” and for being “superb in guiding some of the most progressive clients and most complex projects in strategy-development work.” It also notes that “customers express most confidence in moving forward with created strategy/infrastructure.”

Notably, the report gave Deloitte its highest score for preparing organizations for the transition to a value-based care model.

Jason Girzadas, principal, Deloitte Consulting, and national leader for Deloitte’s life sciences and healthcare practice, said in a news release that he sees the ratings as validation of Deloitte’s enterprise-wide, multi-disciplinary approach to ACO services.

“We are delighted to receive this recognition from KLAS, particularly in light of how fundamental value-based care can be to improving America’s health care system,” said Girzadas, in a press statement. “We feel this recognition underscores that health care organizations are looking for leadership and confidence in moving to a new era marked by population health, value-based incentives, customer transformation, clinical collaborations and emerging technologies.”

As Girzadas sees it, Deloitte brings an end-to-end view to value-based care drawing on world-class experiences in strategy, performance excellence, clinical redesign, applied analytics, digital solutions, talent management and technology transformation.

Deloitte has made a major move into the health analytics space with the roll-out of ConvergeHEALTH, its consortium of premier health organizations working to break down barriers in helping providers, health plans and life sciences companies transform around personalized medicines and population health.

Deloitte has invested $150 million in ConvergeHEALTH, which would make it one of the best-funded health analytic start-ups in the country if it were a stand-alone business.

“When it comes to preparing organizations to meet the challenges of transitioning to value-based care, Deloitte combines a rich history in strategic and operational consulting with very advanced population health tools and care management platforms that bring new insights into clinical and claims data,” said Scott Kolesar, principal, Deloitte Consulting and national leader for value-based care services, in a news release. “The market is discovering that both of these dimensions need to be tightly aligned in order to make meaningful change around value-based care.”
