January 9, 2015 in News

About 55% of physicians might not attest to Stage 2 of the meaningful use program in 2015, according to a new survey, Health Data Management reports (Slabodkin, Health Data Management, 1/8).

Under the 2009 economic stimulus package, health care providers who demonstrate meaningful use of certified electronic health records can qualify for Medicaid and Medicare incentive payments.

Survey Details, Findings

For the survey, Medical Practice Insider partnered with physician network SERMO to poll nearly 2,000 members of its physician social network.

The survey found that 994 physicians said they do not plan to attest to Stage 2 of the meaningful use program in 2015, while 822 said they plan on doing so (Irving, Medical Practice Insider, 1/5).

Respondents cited several reasons for not attesting to Stage 2, including:

  • Excessive time consumption;
  • Lack of workflow usability; and
  • Patient engagement (Health Data Management, 1/8).
