The Indiana Health Information Exchange has named Charles E. Christian as vice president of technology and engagement, beginning May 1, 2015.
Christian is known and respected across the healthcare IT industry, having spent 24 years as chief information officer (CIO) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. In 2010, Christian was recognized by HIMSS and CHIME as the John E. Gall Jr., CIO of the Year. He currently serves as vice president/CIO of St. Francis Hospital, an acute care community hospital in west Georgia.
The IHIE operates the largest health information exchange in the U.S., connecting over 100 hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, community health clinics and other healthcare providers. Under Christian’s leadership, Good Samaritan was one of the first 20 Indiana hospitals to join the IHIE network.
IHIE provides the nation’s largest implementation of clinical results delivery in the country and supports the Indiana Network for Patient Care, a clinical data repository accessed via IHIE’s CareWeb application.
